I used to love back in the day when thin blue line stickers were just a “please don’t give me a fucking ticket” stickers.

Those stickers were never about that.

Sure, there were police association stickers, you could get them ostensibly by donating to and supporting supposedly underpaid cops. But the blue line US flag was designed in 2014 to oppose protesters and for white supremacists to self identify.

Even the term “thin blue line” has changed meaning since the 70s when it began to stand for cops keeping quiet to protect each other. There’s a documentary from the 80s about it.

The Capitol cops beat the hell out of innocent J6 protesters, and the videos are finally coming out. […] The cops should be charged and the protesters should be freed."

Funny how when it was BLM vs the cops, they were cheering for the cops to murder more black people because they were uppity for challenging the status quo.

That’s how it’s supposed to be, and why this is such a challenge for the political Right. For them, the cops are allies, and it was incomprehensible that they would put up any opposition at all.

By and large this has always been the case, the the police are guardians of order and the primacy of capital, and that’s the side the Right is almost always on, so it’s understandable how precedent would have led them to believe that it’d always be the case.

And they were shocked and hurt to find out that it wasn’t.

For the record, they feel the same way about the military.

Yes, and I often point to their hysterical outrage at the shooting of Ashli Babbitt as a prime example of this. Someone breaking and entering the Capitol, with a mob of people that had murderous intent, ends up getting shot and they are apoplectic about this, and still are.

The idea that right wing white people might not be allowed to get away with just about anything absolutely infuriates them to no end. Meanwhile, if a black guy happens to get murdered by a cop for selling loose cigarettes or whatever…well, he had it coming. Or had drugs in his system, or whatever the fuck, who cares, why are we even talking about this?

I get that the military is a heavily conservative organization, but I feel like they’d be surprised that the military wouldn’t just let them walk into bases and take orders from them

It turns out that the military isn’t actually as right-wing as everyone thought because, unlike the police, when push comes to shove, they will defend the country. You can’t count on the police to do the same. You hear lots of moaning and complaining about politics but military members WILL follow their leadership and their leadership will support the country.

    From the article:

Speaking at a rally in Houston, Texas, on November 2, Trump described those incarcerated after the January 6 riot as “hostages, not prisoners.” It came after organizers played “Justice for All.” It is a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by the J6 Prison Choir, made up of men imprisoned after the riot, interspersed with Trump reciting the pledge of allegiance.

The depths of stupidity don’t surprise me anymore. If this isn’t an ad for lead abatement, I don’t know what is.

Unfortunately he has a real chance of winning the presidency and given how his collaborators are laying the groundwork, he might actually be able to get things like this (and far worse).

Let’s see how many of his supporters want to set a precedent of allowing people to charge police.

Court systems would be clogged up within hours , and there would be very few police left.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Donald Trump has shared a post on his Truth Social website, calling for Capitol Police officers who “beat the hell out of innocent J6 [January 6] protesters” to face criminal charges.

On January 6, 2021, hundreds of Trump supporters stormed Congress in a bid to prevent Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential election victory from being certified.

Brian Sicknick, a Capitol Police officer who collapsed after being assaulted on January 6, died the following day, though a Washington D.C. medical examiner later attributed his death to natural causes.

It is a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by the J6 Prison Choir, made up of men imprisoned after the riot, interspersed with Trump reciting the pledge of allegiance.

In December 2022 a House Select Committee formed to investigate the Capitol Hill riots attributed the disorder directly to Trump’s actions.

Separately the Republican frontrunner is also facing criminal charges in Georgia relating to his efforts to block Biden’s election win in the state.

The original article contains 563 words, the summary contains 159 words. Saved 72%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
