The article talks about the cost of “repairs”, not “maintenance”. Those are two different things.
You can’t always use regen as it doesn’t stop the car quickly enough in many cases. From my own experience, regen probably gets used about half the time when braking.

The “metadata” in question was phone location info, which every carrier has and they don’t need access to your phone or your Outlook emails to do it. I’m also going to go out on a really sturdy limb and say that the CIA/NSA/whoever doesn’t care whether you clicked “Accept All” or “Reject All” when they’re hoovering up “metadata”.

Put aside that you might sympathize with antifascist goals. From a law and order perspective, would you argue that the FBI is wrong? I don’t think so. Extremism in resisting fascism is kind of their thing.
My understanding is that they don’t split your subscription fee up to the people you listen to. They base it on who all of their subscribers are listening to. So even if you listened to your favorite obscure artists 24/7, they might not get a dime if nobody else is listening. However, a sizeable chunk of your subscription will go to whoever is most popular on the platform even if you didn’t listen to them at all.
God, the shit people dream up to worry themselves about. Nobody is drugging you to unlock your phone.
Because it’s a significant inconvenience to disable those notifications over the very unlikely possibility that some bad actor will hoover that data up, much less do something nefarious with it.
