I’ve loved this series ever since I got 0 on a whim in 2020. I was vaguely aware it existed, but in my ignorance thought it was some sort of GTA clone. It was a pleasant surprise to find out it was actually a JRPG with beat em up combat. I subsequently played though almost every game on PS4 (including both Judgements and Ishin, but excluding Gaiden). I love how the location of Kamurocho is in (almost) every game and changes over time as the years go by. I was skeptical of the switch to turn-based combat in 7, but they won me over by making Ichiban such a charming protagonist. I can’t help but love the hopelessly optimistic guy! Majima’s my favorite character and I’m eagerly awaiting Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. As for my favorite, I’d have to say 0 because it was my first and it fleshed out Majima the most. The mini-sequel they added to his story in Kiwami 2 made it that much better.
Is lemm.ee much faster than lemmy.world for you?
Yes, MUCH. Sh.itjust.works is much faster as well. I don’t know if it’s because LW is still on 0.19.3 or what, but it’s a very significant difference.
LW isn’t associated with the US except for the fact that they’re keen to kowtow to corporate censorship to avoid being sued and the like. Since they’re by far the most visible instance on Lemmy I can’t really blame them and it’s probably better that they’re more cautious to possibly take some of the heat off of everyone else. As you said, they didn’t serve my needs, so I went elsewhere - having that option is what I love about the fediverse.
(which lemmy.world is in the process of doing as well)
I’m one of them. Luigi censoring was the catalyst. I came to Lemmy to get away from corporate censorship. It also doesn’t help that it’s slow as fuck on desktop compared to the others I tried.
I imagine we would have seen something similar directed at Germany if the internet had been around during the rise of Hitler.

Nintendo, a Japanese company, is releasing Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition on the same day. Every day is the anniversary of a tragedy somewhere.
Yeah, neither are a great solution for me. Dedicated console for gaming on the TV for now, but it might be changing in the future.
Possibly, but I’m not dragging my computer into the living room every time I want to play it on the big TV. Need a dedicated one for that.
Yup. I have a Switch, PS5, and a decent PC that can run most games fine on mid settings. I use the PC for gaming far less than the others partly because I prefer to play games on the TV sitting on the couch and partly because I like buying physical for trading in and buying used games. OSes designed for M+K just don’t lend themselves well to TV playing. If consoles move to being digital only, though, that advantage will be gone and I will look into a Steam Deck or whatever decently priced PC with an OS designed for TV + controller play is out there.
None of the ones I can think of hold up all that well since I grew up in the 80s. It wasn’t until the 90s (with The Simpsons at the vanguard) that ones I would consider to be good for all ages started appearing. The Smurfs was my favorite as a kid.
If people like using them, more power to them, but as someone who grew up playing on CRTs, if I could have had crisp pixels instead back in the day, I would totally have chosen that.
I would take “men” to just mean “male people,” since it’s not being asked in the context of a fantasy world.
