@PhilipTheBucket right, I see. It’s basically the same cycle of them following whoever pays the most. Kinda sucks tbh…
@PhilipTheBucket I did check CNN lately and I found their articles to be quite reliable (not very, but quite) - which is better than I expected (even though I checked them on Flipboard, via the Fedi). I wonder how their quality will drop in the following years.
@Churbleyimyam This is great news! I always found a hassle to install it, yet it was such a useful tool. I’m glad this is going on the main project.
@fu I do think it’s Ground News who decided to cut it. I don’t think Russia would be sad if they receive any exposure at all. Not really sure, but probably they wanted to set a threshold on how much of the propaganda/bias they would allow on their platform at all.
idk, my 2c.
@fu RT is literally state propaganda of Russia. With lots of fake news and half coverage about anything. If you’d ask me to choose 2 news sources to get rid of from the face of the planet, they would be RT and Sputnik. They’re not just propaganda about Russia (which is what TASS and other state media agencies are), they’re simply Russian propaganda about anything.
It would be cooler if Steam or GOG would bring their front-ends to Android and host games as Android apks too. Of course, that would mean that these are sideloaded, but that’s nothing any medium-tech-literate person wouldn’t know.
@alyaza seems like this is no longer a fantasy.
It will be a huge blow to the world if America basically splits apart, with shockwaves going all around the planet.
I do not think that the states will hold their place on the global rank though. Most of the states economy is aided specially because of the fact that they are a part of the same federation. The fact that the “states” are basically just provinces of the same country and you can travel without internal border checks. Otherwise, in a scenario where states are going to be real countries, companies would also need a presence in each of the said state. And this is not something most will be likely to do, hurting the states economy in the process.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg!
@schizoidman if the alternative to corporate owned social media is a platform of the CCP then we’re pretty much all fucked.
@schizoidman this is interesting news
@nanoUFO just free to play or also to keep?
@along_the_road Their existence is threatened anyway, so they are rightfully so. Plus, I do think their intelligence services know a thing or two about their arsenal, especially if it works or not.
@schizoidman highly likely imo. Nuclear weapons are generally a sensitive thing for all the countries that have them. Perhaps they did not want to set a precedent or something, or maybe China’s businesses in Europe would have been affected if a nuclear explosion occurred anywhere on the continent.
Who knows…
@limerod freaking companies obsessed with forcing people to buy new devices…
@Blaze you’re welcome!
@Blaze I’m using FOSS Browser since a long time. I want to keep things minimal on my phone and this one is using my phone’s WebView, so it takes less space. There are some drawbacks for sure with this one, but I can cope with them.
@Powderhorn these seem only temporary blocks (at least declaratively). And as far as I remember, no state imposed border checks along its entire border. So you could i.e. bypass the blocked border by just changing your route I think.
Anyway, the fact that we, bulgarians, and by extension also greeks and hungarians had official border checks made things much more dificult in the region. One prime example would be the fact that many Romanians go on holidays in Greece or Bulgaria because the prices and conditions are terrible in our the sea resorts. Hungarians also shop in Romania because of the lower prices. And examples can continue.
@Drusas I managed to find mine straight on the winter sale page, accidentally. (Hope my reply goes through to your server in time for you to see it). I just kept scrolling and it was like the 3rd banner or something like that.
See what orgs stand up for, join their protests if you can, and you like what they stand for. If you can bring a friend, then you should be all set. Try to meet new people in gatherings. Maybe you can get involved afterward. Also, if you’re paid, consider donating a few to any non-profit, since it will be especially useful.
