Unfortunately it’s still confusing, I come from Photoshop were you can customize the UI to your liking, and switch between workspaces, Gimp has some of that functionality but still lacking…
I believe at the end of this year, we’ll see the release of Gimp 3, so I guess it won’t look ugly anymore
But they do notify you, if you link your phone number you’ll receive an SMS, if you add a recovery email they’ll notify you using that, they even send you an email in the inbox that’s makred for deletion
I know because I saw it in my second account, saw multiple mails warning me and asking me to login just to avoid the deletion
I’m guessing they don’t have the luxury that Gmail has to keep their database filled with unused data
What I don’t understand about Tuta, is that they allow you to create multiple accounts and use them in their app simultaneously, but they say it’s against their terms and they may ban you !!

They delete accounts that are inactive for 4 months to 6 months ( happened to me ) it’s in their terms, nothing shady about this
I installed Linux Mint and I encrypted the drive for my sister ( a 20 yo old laptop ), her kids use it to play games now and they absolutely love it
her husband uses it for word docs, and browsing the web and his happy with it, he wanted to pay me for my effort

Today when I updated Windows11, I got copilot and we were discussing how it’s unacceptable to not let me uninstall Microsoft Edge, well I was, Copilot was just chilling it, but it did agree eventually
But this is only happening in Europe, which means Microsoft didn’t suddenly turn pure hearted, it’s just the law forcing them into it …
I read once that the only two industries that call people users are the tech industry and the drug industry
ever since then, I have been saying the word : stimulate, because that’s what they do, they give users that dopamine rush, with push notifications, reminders, SMS and Email notifications, suggestions based on behavioral tracking and shady algorithms that triggers emotions mainly - but not limited to -anger ( because that drives engagement )… Etc
This doesn’t mean it’s not worth taking a shot, when these platforms screw up ( and they will ), when the migration starts you want your alternative to be able to handle the weight
