Another reason to add to the pile in favor of citizen controlled media like the fediverse.
Good point, title updated to reflect that.
For more of a focus on affordable used mini PC homelabs, I’d recommend Hardware Haven’s content instead.
They don’t, the only people who own many guns generally do so as a hobby.
Statistically most people will never need a firearm to defend themselves, though they may have one anyway for the small chance that they do. But it’s not a requirement to survive, it’s just a little bit of extra insurance.
The other user responding to you, Knightly, is IMO exaggerating the dangers quite a bit. While the US is certainly more dangerous than most of Europe, the risks of being harmed are still quite low if you’re not involved in illicit activity or looking for trouble. Going by statistics, by far the most dangerous thing you can do while in the US is to simply drive in a car, and I imagine driving in Europe is similarly dangerous.
If you feel the need for something to defend yourself, a small can of pepper spray is generally very effective, quite affordable, and legal in all 50 states.
Wouldn’t a side effect of that, if done en masse, be property values and rent ballooning out of control in the safer areas?
As someone who also bounced off Manuskript for similar reasons, I think this will be right up your alley. :)
I went outside of my usual wheelhouse and tried playing some of the Wario games for the gameboy advance. Finished Warioware in one afternoon (very fun short little collection of mini games) and currently on Wario Land 4. It’s a platformer with light puzzle elements, and I’m quite surprised at how much I’ve been enjoying it, as I usually don’t mesh with platformers.
In a way, it reminds me of one of the later Commander Keen games, but with much better level design and variety in gameplay.
It’s a polished and quirky little game, and its handheld roots lend itself to short sessions, which has been all I have time for.
I think I’ll be investigating the earlier entries after I complete it. Certainly recommend it if you have access to a handheld emulator!
It’s like a perk from Sid Meier’s Civilization
They absolutely are.
