  • This is wild. I almost wonder if it’s actually a real thing or an elaborate hoax. It’s impressive in either case.

As far as the concept of AI news, there are obvious drawbacks but also some advantages. In particular, the anchors are less animated and emotional, which eliminates quite a bit of bias. Cable news anchors with their incredulity, snide remarks, and expressions have done a lot to help ruin the news. That alone can easily undermine a story or a guest in a way that causes the audience to pick a side.

The idea of using AI to scour public records and create stories is another really cool idea. There’s so much out there and not enough reporters with the time or inclination to investigate everything.

I’m not too keen on the AI generated imagery, although traditional news outlets essentially do the same thing. It’s a dangerous thing to be presented with artificial pictures and videos in a news format. Before long, you can’t distinguish between reality and artificial, which is more or less the same problem a significant portion of the country has had since the 2016 election. In that case, they were mostly fed stupid memes and fabricated stories on social media. This is a completely different level. In the wrong hands, this is a weapon of mass destruction.

  • This whole thing stinks. It’s the kind of lawsuit where you wish both parties could lose. The whole walled garden concept sucks, but this doesn’t exactly benefit consumers. Nobody wants a dozen different app stores where we need to set up accounts and payment info - not consumers and not small to medium size developers.

If Epic gets what they’re asking for it sure as hell won’t be what they want. Google still controls the OS so they can just make some shitty third party app store API with requirements just as onerous as IAP that puts everyone else at a disadvantage. If I’m Google, my new motto is “Android’s not done until Fortnite won’t run”.

  • Why wouldn’t he have to pay? He already had to pay when he bought it. He put in cash and took on debt. The only real benefit to this thing tanking is he can take a massive capital loss and probably never pay income tax again.

The downside is he would owe a lot of money to people you don’t want to owe and he looks like a bigger moron by the day. Sooner or later, Tesla investors are going to get spooked by his deranged behavior and then he’s in a world of hurt. All his wealth is tied up in Tesla and he uses his position as CEO to pump the stock with all his bullshit lies. It’s like a giant Ponzi scheme. As soon as the value comes back down to Earth and the stock is priced like a normal company he’s in big trouble.

  • I don’t plan to vote for her or any other Republican candidate. But there’s going to be a candidate and I see her as the lesser of the evils. While I don’t agree with her positions or particularly like her, I acknowledge that she is at least qualified to hold office and believe that she will leave after completing a term, which is more than I can say about the other candidates. We don’t always get the candidate we want and that’s part of democracy. It’s ok to disagree on policy as long as we can agree on what it means to be Americans.

DeSantis is a hack and I do not believe he has demonstrated either good character or an ability to effectively govern. He relies on a Republican super-majority in the state legislature to ram his agenda through. Sooner or later you have to work with the opposing party to get things done and he has never had to do that. He can’t expect a Republican super-majority if he’s in the White House and I don’t think he has the political chops to work with Congress. Hell, his former colleagues in Congress say he basically ghosted them once he became governor. He’s also a racist asshole and hates LGBT people.

Ramaswamy is a hateful prick who is good at getting people riled up. That has nothing to do with governing. I don’t believe he is qualified in any way, shape or form.

Trump is a traitor. His actions on 1/6 are an affront to every person who has ever worked to preserve or better our country or our way of life. He literally tried to deprive all Americans - even his own supporters - of a free and fair election. Ironically, many of his supporters consider themselves patriots who believe in free and fair elections. He has deprived them of their faith in our democratic systems as much as he has anyone else, and, in the process, has created an awful schism between Americans. I can’t think of a worse criminal in our nation’s history. It is unfathomable that he is considered a candidate for any public office. His rightful place should be on the gallows. His trials, eventual conviction, and imprisonment is a future far better than what he deserves.

  • DeSantis is a POS. I live in his state. He’s a racist fuck and he hates LGBT people. The schools here barely have any books in the libraries and now there is new curriculum teaching that black people benefited from slavery. He is deranged.

Ramaswamy is another scumbag. I can’t say whether he’s worse than DeSantis. He might be. He certainly doesn’t believe in the same kind of America most of us do.

Unfortunately, the nominee is going to be one of this pitiful bunch of assholes. Personally, I think Haley is the least toxic, although that’s not saying much. I just don’t want Trump, DeSantis or Ramaswamy.

  • It doesn’t matter. He has no chance of winning anything. Regardless of the shitty things he’s done, I appreciate that he’s calling out Trump now. Republican voters need to hear it from Republicans and I don’t really care how the media paints Christie as long as they deliver the message. Trump is a bigger threat than ever. Most candidates either support him or tiptoe around without acknowledging how dangerous he is. We need someone to take him head on. Frankly, it’s better when those people are former supporters who got to see things up close.
