  • My guess is that one of two things will happen:

    • WW3, probably started with China over something or other in the South China Sea, and I don’t think the magats are putting the country in a position to win it, so they’ll be put on trial after the war.
    • Civil war, and I trust the lesson of history that shows time and time again that authoritatian regimes never end well.

Either way, there will be a lot of casualties, is the bad news.

And then the country will be rebuilt, long after you and I are gone, it will enjoy a few decades of prosperity, and then it will happen all over again. That too is another lesson of history.

  • To place blame for an accident while bodies are still strapped to seats in the water is abhorrent

Trump, like most politicians and CEOs, is a psychopath. He doesn’t understand or feel empathy. More disturbingly, he doesn’t feel compelled to pretend he does.

His lack of empathy and whatever rage is burning inside of him, and the fact that he’s the most powerful man in the world, makes for a dangerous cocktail. There was a little mustachioed man from Austria who also made the same cocktail with the same three ingredients 92 years ago and we all know what happened.

  • Either someone is qualified to fly a plane or not

    Exactly.

Or direct air traffic. Or drive a truck. Or operate machinery. Or do accountancy…

If the person is qualified, by definition they can do the job. Whether they’re in a wheelchair or 3-ft tall is irrelevant: if their disability prevents them from doing the job, then they’re not qualified and they’re not even hired to begin with. Otherwise, they’re qualified and their disability has nothing to do with their job abilities - and none of your business to boot.

Trump always talks about merit but all I see is an ableist old man who unfairly targets of people based on their looks, sexual preferences and challenges in life that have nothing to do with their ability to perform at work.

  • I can tell you exactly what I do, because 25 years ago, I chose to forgo promotions at work and prioritize free time and quality of life over money:

I spend time with my family.
I do the things I want while I’m still young (or rather, while I was still young 🙂).
Generally leading a good life free of stress and drama.

You were given only one life. You have a finite set of hours on this dirtball, and the countdown is running. Every extra hour you give to your employer in exchange for money is an hour you don’t spend with your loved ones, and you can’t buy it back. Retirement age is too late to enjoy your life.

Nobody goes to their graves thinking they should have worked more.
