The real problem there is all of the government handouts that have gone to the other ISPs for the purpose of wiring up everybody… Taking the money and then not delivering. And I know some years ago it was said that Comcast’s internet division was running at over 90% profit margin… And like other companies that were regarded highly successful operate around 30% or less.

I mean, jacked up prices, lots of anti-consumer crap, questionable ethical practices in foreign markets…

I’d say, Twitch is ever increasingly less and less about games and more and more is just becoming PornHub. So, it’s ripe for child exploitation (teenagers) and potentially could scare away advertisers.

Individually maybe. But every streaming company has been doing price hikes. And you’re not getting anything more, just some useless “AI” stuff I doubt anyone asked for. If they had said the increase was 100% so they could offer more to creators I wouldn’t blink. Or using it to hire the support staff creators need, also would be cool with that. But this looks like nothing more than the corporate bottom line

Something I don’t think is really talked about in tandem but should be is the “tech” side of things. There’s a massive race to go as proprietary as possible none of this crap is easily serviceable by people. The tech that they put in most of these cars is cheap garbage. I don’t want some tablet with what is probably a fork of Android controlling my vehicle. First I know support for it is going to go out the window and I don’t want to have to think about software security for my damn car.

Then you have these companies that are putting features that are in the car behind subscriptions because the car can now support subscription model. I don’t want always online DRM for the DLC for my goddamn car.

People still buy Seagate even though there has been a track record of massive failures on their HDDs since the early 00’s. Didn’t matter, people associated it with gaming. WD used to have good quality. There was a bit of a scandal some years ago with their red series when they quietly went to SMR. I have some WD blacks (I think, unsure if they did the color thing at that time) from like '07 that still work reliably. So in the over 20 years I’ve been building computers, when did ‘forever’ start?

It’s like an extremely high resolution… Of what it would have looked like in a PS1 game. This looks like this is an asset from like Deus Ex on PlayStation.

SSDs are far slower than RAM. And adds extra wear on the SSD.
