You need to search for https://lemmy.ml/comment/50569 (removing the post/xxx/` part). The direct link to comment is behind the three dot button.

FYI there is a reply from @Salamander@mander.xyz which you wont see from your instance, you have to view the thread on lemmy.ml (https://lemmy.ml/post/61273).

I made a change yesterday to avoid this problem, and make the allowlist less strict.

That also makes sense. I didnt want to make the issue more complicated, but you could mention that in a comment there.

I dont think that is the right way to go for an open source project, it will just lead to frustration for new users. Its better to make the details public, then everyone can participate in the discussion if the rules make sense.

I think it would be good to have a simple rule, you need to make at least 5 comments before you can create a post. Could be overall or in each community, and configurable.

Lemmy is growing quite well, one year ago we only had 800 users, now we are already at 13.000. Sure the slur filter might limit growth a bit, but we are not a silicon valley company whose goal is growth at any cost.

Which docker-compose file do you mean? In general you should always use the same version for lemmy and lemmy-ui (or at least the same minor version 0.9 vs 0.10, because there are breaking changes). 0.10.1 is fine to run, but tests are failing, which will be fixed shortly.

Note for instance admins: if there is any problem in your config and Lemmy fails to load it, it will still try to start with the default config. This doesnt work, and throws a lot of database connection errors, which may hide the original problem. So if you notice this, scroll up to the beginning of the log, and it should show you whats wrong in the config. We are gonna release v0.10.1 soon to fix this.

There are more important things than making numbers go up. Just the existance of the slur filter makes right-wingers upset, and stops them from even considering to use Lemmy. That makes our job much easier because we dont have to deal with them.

I can tell you one thing, your username is not acceptable.

Their web interface isnt working either (at least when I tried a few hours ago).

We are definitely going to add slurs in other languages if fascists start using Lemmy. But for now we are trying to keep it minimal to avoid false positives.

Thats okay, we never expected that everyone would like it.

Thanks for your comment, I’m really happy to read something like this. I’m glad that people can really get along here :)

As long as they can stop themselves from insulting or attacking other people, they can come to Lemmy with no problem.

Then you should respect the free will of Lemmy developers and users to have a slur filter.

Thats your opinion. We have a different opinion on this, as we described above.

Statement on Politics of Lemmy.ml

Recently there have been some discussions about the political stances of the Lemmy developers and site admins. To clear up some misconceptions: Lemmy is run by a team of people with different ideologies, including anti-capitalist, communist, anarchist, and others. While @dessalines and I are communi…

Testing for Lemmy Federation Release

After almost a year of hard work implementing ActivityPub support on Lemmy, it is finally done! Anything that works here on dev.lemmy.ml, also works over federation between different instances (with one notable exception, community mods have to be on the same instance as the community for now). …

NLnet funding, and Lemmy v0.7.0 with new image hosting!

Let’s start with the biggest news first: Lemmy is receiving funding from the NLnet foundation! The funding is for a total amount of 45.000 €, which will allow /u/dessalines and me (/u/nutomic ) to work on Lemmy full-time for at least half a year. …
